Land Return Ceremony and Celebration
The Grand Portage Band, in partnership with Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation and the Minnesota Land Trust, announced today the completed purchase of land that marks the largest land return to Grand Portage in recent history.
"In an era when land acknowledgement statements have become common, this is what reconciliation actually looks like," said Chairman Deschampe. "The Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation has set the new leadership standard when it comes to restorative justice work with Tribes.”
This announcement comes ahead of the March 16 Land Return Signing Ceremony and Celebration at noon in Grand Portage.
